Obituary of Rose Anne Hubley

Hubley (Ramey), Rose Anne - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Rose Hubley (Ramey) on Monday, July 21, 2025, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, with her devoted husband by her side.

Born on June 9, 1959, in Middleton, NS, she grew up as an “air force brat”. Rose spent her early years in Greenwood before settling in Bridgewater. She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years (together for 40+) André Hubley; her cherished children, daughter, Natasha (David) Wagg; son, Morgan Hubley (Chas McCarthy) and beloved grandchildren, Caelyn and Hayden Wagg and Asher Hubley. Rose also leaves behind her parents, Ross, and Virginia “Ginny” Ramey; siblings, Linda (Glen) Slauenwhite and David (Faye) Ramey; and a large extended family and circle of friends. She was predeceased by her siblings Jeannette, Darrell, and Ronnie Ramey.

To know Rose was to love her. She had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome — whether at the River Pub, where she proudly worked for 32 years and formed countless friendships, or in her own home. Rose was well known and loved by many, whether it was her longtime friends, co-workers and regular customers, everybody who met Rosie adored her. She was even crowned the 1994 Mahone Bay Sewer Bowl Queen in their annual football tournament, a title that perfectly captured her vibrant spirit.

A natural hostess, Rose was famous for her legendary pizza parties and family gatherings. Every person who walked through her doors was welcomed, fed, and treated like family. She was a proud and devoted mother and grandmother, always happiest when surrounded by her family around the kitchen island, sharing stories and meals she lovingly prepared from scratch — always with a little extra flair.

Rose was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren, she was blessed with two grandbabies early in life and this past year, she was given the gift of a new grandbaby Asher to love. She was the type of mother and grandmother who loved unconditionally and without judgement. She gave the best advice and was always a calming presence to those around her. She was often a co-conspirator, engaging in a little bit of mischief and shenanigans. She was a mom to us, but also a mom to all of the rowdy teenagers who came through the house over the years. Rose also had a deep love for animals and a soft spot for every creature that crossed her path. Over the years, her home welcomed cats, iguanas, cockatiels, fish, snakes, and the beloved family dog, Bruno.

Together, Rose and André shared a life full of adventure, laughs and joy. Their travels took them to Florida, Ireland, Switzerland, New York City, Aruba, and other parts of Europe. They spent summers on Beaver Tail Basin at the family cottage enjoying the ‘lake life’ with the kids, grandkids, and extended family. At home, their backyard oasis was the setting for many sun-soaked days filled with great music and celebration. Rose also loved games, whether it be radio BINGO, cards or one of the many board games she skunked us on through the years.

Rose was a talented craftswoman and accomplished seamstress. If she could dream it, she could make it. After retirement, she channeled her creativity into making and selling “Rosie Hugz,” her custom-designed magic bags. She approached every project with care and perfectionism. If she was cooking, it was from scratch and it was always ‘danced up’ just a little bit. Rose also loved her accessories and shoe shopping was her favorite sport.

She was a woman who loved deeply, laughed freely, and always saw the best in others. Her wisdom, kindness, and sense of humour will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff of the South Shore Regional Hospital’s medical-surgical unit, especially Dr. Vicki Smith, for their exceptional care during Rose’s brief illness.

A Celebration of Rose’s Life will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Bridgewater Legion, 78 Churchill Street, Bridgewater. All are welcome to join us in raising a glass in her honour.
