Charles Robert "Bob" O'Neill
86 of Bridgewater passed away on Tuesday 3 January 2012 in the Veterans Unit of Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Charles and Isabel (Smith) O’Neill. He enlisted in the Second World War as a member of the West Nova Scotia Regiment. After recovering from war related injuries he worked for many years as a salesman for Crane Plumbing Supplies. In his younger years he enjoyed photography and motorcycles. He married in 1961 and moved to Bridgewater to raise his family. Many happy years were spent travelling and summering at the cottage on Fancy Lake. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and Uncle. Bob is survived by his son Scott O’Neill, O’Leary P.E.I.; daughter Dr. Carmen (Dr. Everett Weagle) O’Neill, Bridgewater; Grandchildren Kirsten and Rachael Weagle, Bridgewater along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years Dr. Anna O’Neill; sister Mary Peters; brothers Fred, Doug, Basil and John. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, 7 January in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater, Father Brian Murphy officiating. A private family burial will follow. Immediate family flowers only, please. Memorial donations in Bob’s memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater; The Veterans Unit of Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg or the Canadian Cancer Society.
