Obituary of Evangeline Mae Wentzell
Evangeline Mae Wentzell (Hubley)
Entered eternal life peacefully on Friday, March 13th at the age of 87 in the Alternate Level of Care unit at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Evangeline was born on July 19th, 1927 to Percy and Ada Hubley in Farmington, Lunenburg Co. After training at the Teachers College, she taught school in Walden, Newburne and Maplewood. She married Leland Eugene Wentzell in 1949 and they enjoyed 66 years together. They lived in Maplewood until 1999, when they moved to Bridgewater. The couple had a son and a daughter and welcomed many foster children in to their home over three decades, many of whom maintained long-lasting relationships with them. She belonged to the Rebekah Lodge and the Women’s Institute. Evangeline loved gardening and cooking. She shared the joy of music with her family and her home was often filled with the aroma of baking and the sound of friends, family and live music. Evangeline is survived by her husband, Leland; children Jeff Wentzell (Patricia), Joanne Wentzell ( Jordi), Vincent Rhodenizer, Tim Kaizer, Teresa Kaizer (Gary) and Rick Feener; siblings Paul Hubley, Beulah Rafuse, Lucy Veinot (Bramer) and Marguerite Chliszczyk (Ron); sister-in-law Joukje Hubley; grandchildren Sarah and Sam Wentzell, Linden Corkum, Martin Kaizer, Alex and Kirkland Nickerson, Erickson Feener; many nieces and nephews, too numerous to list but not forgotten. Evangeline is predeceased by her brothers Maurice Hubley and Lester Hubley; sister-in-law Barbara Hubley. A funeral will be held Friday March 20th, 2 p.m. at the Bridgewater Baptist Church with a reception to follow at the church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Evangeline’s life.
