Obituary of Jacquelyn Mae McGuire

Jacquelyn Mae McGuire 70, of Shingle Lake, New Elm, passed away peacefully at home with her family in attendance on 13 February 2017. She was born at home in Kingston, N.S. to Willa M. (Graham) and Arthur H. Medicraft. Surviving are Jackie’s beloved family; husband (William) Douglas, Shingle Lake, New Elm; daughter, Kimberley and husband Liam Nagle of Lahave; son, Patrick and wife Gwen (Ruggles) and grandson Kyle of Halifax. She is also survived by those that she considered her adopted families, Patricia and Marty Burke, Cyril and Heather Taylor, Lori and Joseph Ulman and by her step-sisters and brothers from the Hennigar family. Jackie is also survived by her sisters, Loretta (Phillip) Taylor of Berwick, Bonnie (Mike) Leary of Chester Basin, brother-in-law Merton Stevens of Waterville and by many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Willa Medicraft-Hennigar, father Arthur Medicraft, infant sister Evielena and sister Louise (Merton) Stevens of Cambridge. Jackie was a longstanding, active member of various Baptist churches where she taught bible study and participated in church choirs, Sunday school and outreach work. Her heart was burdened for those less fortunate in this world and she passionately worked within the realm of her influence to relieve poverty and the heartaches of the world. She started her working life with Dunlop Rubber in Toronto and then returned home and her career continued with Beneficial Finance. After a break to raise her growing family she returned to the workforce as a receptionist for the late Dr. Findlay before moving to various positions with Xerox. Jackie had great pride in everything she did and worked tirelessly at her flower gardens, quilts, woodworking with her husband Doug and creating a warm and loving home for all who shared her life. Her bond with her family was strong but especially so with her husband Doug as they completed one another. She did everything with and for her family. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held at Doug and Jackie’s home in the spring. Pastor Tom Davidson will officiate and you will be invited to join our family for a time of celebration, remembrance and relaxation at a date yet to be determined. The family would like to thank the home support workers, VON and Earth Angels nurses and Jackie’s doctors, for all their help and tireless support over these last months.
