Obituary of Margaret Fowke
Margaret Ermina Fowke
77 of Bridgewater, Lunenburg County, passed away December 26, 2001 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Berwick, on May 28, 1924, Margaret was the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Cox) Saunders. Margaret was a graduate of St John General Hospital (1946) and worked as a nurse in Nova Scotia, Alberta, British Columbia and New York. Married in 1962, she lived in Bridgewater and Chester and was an active in the Alter Guild of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater, the ACW, the Hospital Auxiliary and Meals on Wheels. Her vitality, thoughtfulness and giving nature brought happiness to those who knew her. She will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts forever. She is survived by her husband Frederick E. L. Fowke; daughter, Mary (Jose), Lisbon, Portugal; son, John (Christina), New Hampshire; brothers, Edmund (Reta), Bridgewater; Douglas (Evelyn), Berwick; sisters, Amanda (Paul), Kentville; Cecilia (Weldon), Stellarton; Emily (Bob), Victoria, B.C.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Guilford (Marjorie) and a sister, Eva. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 3pm in the family home (232 Alexandra Ave., Bridgewater). Funeral service will be held 11am Monday in the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater, Archdeacon John Clarke officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. A burial service will be held at 1:30 pm in the Bayview Cemetery, Chester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church or the charity of your choice through the Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater or at www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
