Capt. Earl Hooper
73, of Bridgewater, Lunenburg County, passed away Sunday, July 25 at home after a lengthy illness. Born in St. George NB, he was a son of the late Earl and Mabel (Schofield) Hooper. He was in the R.C.N. prior to being Capt. to several offshore fishing vessels fishing out of Lunenburg, spanning over 2 decades. He is survived by his wife the former Barbara Knickle; sons, Brian (Linda), Port Hawkesbury; E. Michael, Halifax; daughter Donna (Todd) Hubley, Bridgewater, brothers, Donald, Saint John NB; Jack (Lois), New Elm; Keith (Emily), Montreal, Que.; Richard (Jean), St. George NB; sisters, Madeline Smith, Nictaux; Beatrice (Leo) Deveau, St. George, NB; Leona Mean, Hartland, NB; Emily (Ken) Holmes and Annette (Doug) Densmore both of St. Stephen, NB; grandchildren, Christopher, Colin, Jason and Kyle. He was predeceased by his brothers Milfred, Lewis, Carroll, Joseph and Paul; sister Thelma. Visitation will be Tuesday, 7 to 9pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will held 11am Wednesday in the New Life Christian Church, Pastor Scott Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only. Memorial donations my be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Palliative care unit at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg County Home Support Services or the New Life Christian Church.
