Obituary of Donald Mader

Donald Maxwell Mader 60, Bridgewater, Lun Co., went to be with his family on Friday Sept 17th 2004 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater surrounded by his family. Born in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Carl and Phyllis (Hebb) Mader, Hebbville, Lun Co. Dad was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Dad was an upholsterer for over 40 years, known throughout the province. Dad began his career in Bridgewater and then settled with his family in New Glasgow and worked at The Mattress Shop, He later purchased Chipmans Upholstery and set up shop in Westville. Dad taught upholstery night courses at New Glasgow High and West Pictou High for a few years. In 1987 he and his son opened D&S Upholstery in Truro which he later sold to his son before moving to Bridgewater to be with his parents. Dad was known for his skill, his honesty, but most of all to say what ever was on his mind. Dad was finally at peace with himself and passed on a happy man, sadly missed by all. Special thanks to the Paramedics, Bridgewater Police Services and last but not least, the fine doctors and nurses of ICU South Shore Regional Hospital for their help with dad, they all did a superb job keeping dad comfortable during his final days. We’ll never forget your kindness. Special thanks to Fletcher Croft for keeping dad in touch and to all his friends who watched out for him. Thank You. Special thanks to the staff of Sweeny's Funeral Home. Dad is survived by his wife Doreen(Haggarty) Mader, Truro; daughter Marina (John,Kimberley,Jonathan,Douglas) Lafferty, New Glasgow; sons Shannon (Marlene,Bryden,Dylan)Truro; Leigh (Dawn,Tyler); Maple Ridge B.C.
