Obituary of Wallace Anthony

Wallace Keith Anthony 81, Bridgewater, Lunenburg County, passed away November 16, 2005 at home. Born June 6, 1924 in Mill Village, Queens Co., he was the son of the late Raymond and Flora (Manthorne) Anthony. After finishing school he worked for Robert Simpsons Sears for twenty years. He was president of the Sears Toastmasters Public Speaking Club for one year. He was an active member of the Rockingham United Church of Canada for a number of years. Later he worked for the Stevens Group as a property manager for fifteen years. He married his second wife, M. Jeane in 1973. In 1988 he retired and they moved to Bridgewater where they lived in their cottage by the lake among friends and neighbours. In Bridgewater he was a Charter member in the 1990 Golden “K’s” Kiwanis Club with the Senior Wheels van for handicapped people. Both he and wife Jeane were volunteers with the South Shore Regional Hospital for many years. He continued to work with the Royal Canadian Legion branch 24, Bridgewater, with the poppy campaign, sick and shut in members at home and in hospitals, including the Veterans Unit in Lunenburg. He continued to be active in the Bridgewater United Church. He is survived by his only son, C. Peter Anthony, B.C., daughter Janet Gerigk, Port Alberni, B.C. granddaughter, Kristie Gerigk, Kamloops, B.C., step daughter, Kathy MacPherson, step granddaughter, Patti (Len) Vaisanen, great granddaughters, B.J. and Pyper Vaisanen, step grandson Gary (Myndi) Robertson, Ottawa; a brother, Robert (Mary), sisters, Enid (Eugene) Pyke, and family; Margaret (Vaughan) Dauphinee and family; brothers in law, Edward (Eva) Curtis and family; Donald Curtis, daughters Cathy and Linda (Craig) Orr and family, B.C. He was predeceased by wife M. Jeane (Smith) Curtis, brothers, Murray and George, brother in law Bert Curtis. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm with a public legion tribute service being held at 7pm, all in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 1pm Monday in the Bridgewater United Church, Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Village Cemetery, Mill Village at 3pm. Family flowers only.
