Obituary of John Trethewey
John Reginald "Reg" Trethewey
88, New Germany, Lunenburg Co. passed away peacefully on July 24th, 2005 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, N.S. His beloved wife of 63 years, Kathleen and his loving family surrounded him as he set off on his final journey. Born in New Germany, NS he was the son of the late John and Laura (Wentzell) Trethewey. He was a veteran of the Second World War having served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment in North Africa, Italy and Europe. He also served his community as a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102, New Germany, past member of the New Germany Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Men’s Church Choir and a dedicated blood donor. Reg’s memory will live on through the beautiful furniture he made, signed and dated for his family. He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen (Mosher); son John (Debbie), Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; daughters Linda (Michael) Morrison, Bedford; Joan (Alan) Russell, (Beaverbank); Ann (Steven) Varner, (Bedford); sister Aileen MacKay, New Germany; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Phyllis Grimm. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 27th at 11am at Epworth United Church, New Germany, Rev. Clayton Austin officiating. Interment at Epworth United Cemetery. No flowers by request, memorial donations in Reg’s memory may be made to Epworth United Church or the New Germany Medical Center.
