Obituary of George Eno

Dr. George E. Eno, O.D. Of Bridgewater, passed away January 23, 2006, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.Born May 20, 1920 in Marysville, N.B., he was a son of the late Harrison and Pearl (Higgs) Eno and was a graduate of Moncton High School. Enlisted in the R.C.A.F., July 1941, became a wireless operator in both the ground and air operation serving a total of 4 years with 2 years overseas during the European conflict. His only brother Squadron Leader Lloyd Eno R.A.F. and R.C.A.F. and his entire aircrew were lost in a bombing raid over Hamburg during the same conflict. Upon discharge from the Canadian Air Force in August, 1945, George embarked in a course of education for the practice of Optometry with science courses at the University of New Brunswick, Toronto University and University of Waterloo for the next five years. Post graduate study in the United States led to a Fellowship in American Academy of Optometry. He practiced his chosen profession in Bridgewater for 35 years and thoroughly enjoyed the privilege of helping the many fine people as patients. He served as Chairman of the Board of Examiners for Nova Scotia in Optometry; a member of the Bridgewater United Church; member of the Acacia Lodge Order of Eastern Star and active in community affairs. He is survived by, son Tom (Kayle) Moncton; daughter, Michele, Ottawa; three grandchildren, Shane Eno, Bridgewater; Meaghan and Aaron Quinn, Ottawa. He was predeceased by his wife, R. Hope (Sullivan) in April, 2005; grandson, Darren Eno and a brother, Lloyd Eno.At the request of his family there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A public graveside service for family and friends will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 25 at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater, Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. A reception will follow in the Bridgewater United Church. No flowers by request. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
