Obituary of Lester Veinotte
Lester Eugene Veinotte
79, of West Northfield, passed away November 24, 2001 in the QE II Health Sciences Center, Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in West Northfield on July 9, 1922, he was a son of the late Perlie Wilson and Flossie Blanche (Zinck) Veinotte. He was a veteran of the Second World War and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 24 in Bridgewater. He was the founder and past owner of Veinotte’s Chainsaw Sales and Service; L.E. Veinotte and Sons Ltd, Well Drilling and Victoria Ridge, formerly Trailer City in Wileville. He was the first chief of the Northfield District Fire Department, which began in 1947. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, West Northfield, and served as warden and on Parish Councils; member and past president of Lunenburg County Christmas Tree Association; Nova Scotia Well Drillers Association and past executive; NS Manufacturers Housing Association Executive; Progressive Conservative Party of Lunenburg County and past executive; Antiquity Preceptory; Scottish Rite; Philae Shrine, Treasurer and Past President; Acacia Lodge, Bridgewater; and Norwood Lodge, New Ross; Royal Arch Masons; Royal Order of Jesters Court 155. He is survived by his wife Pauline Vivian (Langille); sons, Eugene (Lana); Bruce (Heather), all of West Northfield; daughter Rev. Catherine (Foard) Robar, Meisner’s Section; grandchildren, Andy, Anne, Angela, Bryce, Robyne, Mark, Sarah, John; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Bronson, Jay, Timothy, Haley and Kelsey; a sister, Margaret (Laird) Arenburg, Truro. He was predeceased by his brothers, William, Clarence, Ervin and Elwood in infancy. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Masonic Lodge Service being held at 6:15 p.m., followed by a Legion Tribute Service at 7 p.m. all in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in St, Andrew’s Anglican Church, West Northfield, with Rev. Gloria McClure-Fraser officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield. Family flowers by request.
