Obituary of Shirley Louise Richard

RICHARD, (Crouse) Shirley Louise –It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Shirley, age 85 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. She was the youngest daughter of the late Charles Lloyd and Lillian Ruth Crouse, Bridgewater. She is survived by niece, Connie Burke; nephews, Peter Brandal, John Crouse, Peter Crouse, Gregory Crouse, Alan Hubley and Kenneth Hubley; many great nieces and nephews; cousin, Nicholas Oxner; sister-in-law, Yvonne Crouse. She was predeceased by her husband, Ross Richard; sisters, Helen Brandal and Marjorie Hubley; brothers, Ernest and Michael Crouse. She grew up in Bridgewater and then moved to Halifax for her adult years. Before retirement her working years were at Maritime Tel and Tel in Bridgewater and Halifax. After retirement she and Ross moved back to LaHave and she became very involved with many community activities. While in Halifax she was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and after moving to LaHave she became a faithful member of St. James Anglican Church, LaHave. Shirley was a very loving and caring lady. She made regular and weekly visits to her friends in the nursing homes taking lobster sandwiches to the one who liked them and grapes and fruits to the others. She got great pleasure feeding and watching the birds and wildlife in her back yard – no matter the weather conditions she would be out there feeding them. She will be greatly missed by her family, many friends, neighbors and her back yard visitors. As per Shirley’s wishes there will be a graveside service on Friday April 20th at 2 p.m. in Fort Point Cemetery with Rev. Oliver Osmond officiating. Donations may be made to SHAID, Hope for Wildlife or a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com
