Obituary of Eileen Belle Smith

of Eileen Belle Smith 90 of Broad Cove passed away on Monday 24 November 2008 at her home in Broad Cove, Lunenburg County. Born in Broad Cove on 9 September 1918, she was the daughter of the late Stannage and Lillian (McCarthy) Herman and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Eileen was a member of St. Matthews United Church in Broad Cove where she sang in the choir for many years and was a secretary for the WA. When she was no longer able to knit she turned to, and loved, crossword puzzles. She is survived by her niece Judy (Glen) Turner of Dartmouth and several other nieces and nephews; Sister-in-Laws Adele Herman, Otella Herman, Ermine Herman, all of Broad Cove and Reta Herman, Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband Allman; brothers Douglas, Gordon, Alton, Edsel, Gerald, Arnold, Rex, Granvil, Martell and Kelvy; sister Glenda. The will be no visitation by request. A graveside service will be held at 2PM, Saturday 29 November 2008 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Broad Cove, Rev. Neil McEwen officiating. No flowers, please.
