Dale Mary Ellen Joudrey
74, Elmwood, Lunenburg County, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Hope, in Fancy Lake, after a brave struggle with ovarian cancer. Born in Elmwood she was a daughter of the late Claude and Catherine (Muise) Dorey. Dale was co-owner of Scotia Best Xmas Trees and Elwood Lodge, Elmwood; member of the Lunenburg County Christmas Tree Producers’ Association; Hank Snow Society; Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, branch 102, New Germany; Lunenburg County Fiddler’s Club; The Ukelele Club; South Shore Bluegrass Association. Dale will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. She will be forever remembered for her untiring commitment to St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church, Elmwood and her loyalty to all music. Dale was lovingly referred to as the “Gypsy Bass Player”, as she never refused to play her bass guitar when asked by anyone, at any time. Other than her family and faithful companion, her dog, Trouble, music was her love in life. Surviving are her daughter, Hope (James) Campbell, Fancy Lake; sons, Terry (Joanne), Wade (Patricia), all of Elmwood; brothers, Darrell (Jeanette), Elmwood; Doyle (Sania), Wileville; Dwight, Cole Harbour; sisters, Dora (Dave) Jones, Halifax; Darliea Dorey, Debbie Robson, both of Truro; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband, Clell; brothers, Dalton Dorey, Delmer Dorey. Visitation 7 - 9 p.m. Monday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany, where a Legion Ladies Auxiliary service will be at 6:45 p.m. Funeral mass 11am Tuesday, in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater. Father Gordon MacLean and Msgr. Rev. William Wamboldt officiating. Private family burial at a later date in St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Elmwood. Immediate family flowers only, donations to Canadian Cancer Society Ovarian Research, St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church Stained Glass Window Fund or St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church Music program.
