Obituary of Bruce Irving McCarthy
McCARTHY, Bruce Irving – December 21, 1945 – November 15, 2019; passed peacefully at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater after his brief battle with cancer. He was a son of the late Bernard and Marjorie (Mitchell), formerly of Bridgewater.
Bruce was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 24, Bridgewater; he was an engineer of the LaHave Ferry II retiring in 2012. He also enjoyed his dump trucks, racing and curling.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Ellen (Dicks); daughter, Andrea (Victor) Whalen, Pine Grove; son, Jeffrey Crouse, Middlewood; granddaughter, Madison Whalen; grandson, Drew Whalen. Father-in-law, Bronson Dicks; brothers-in-law, Ralph (Gail) Dicks, Bridgewater; Joe (Shirley) Dicks, Bridgewater; many nieces and nephews. Sister-in-law, Donna (Cudmore) McCarthy, Summerside, PE; his special “Jac’s” Family. Besides his parents, Bruce was predeceased by brother, Lloyd McCarthy, formerly of Summerside, PE; Mother-in-law, Evelyn Dicks, formerly of Bridgewater.

At Bruce’s request no visitation or service will be held.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be held 4-7 p.m, Monday, November 18, 2019 at Jac’s Burgers and Shakes, King Street, Bridgewater, all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruce’s memory may be made to South Shore Relay for Life.
