Obituary of Donald Wentzell

Donald Maxwell Wentzell 83, died Thursday April 5, 2001 at home in Bridgewater. Born in New Canada, he was the son of James Albert and Helen Unice (Knox) Wentzell. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Theresa Pearl (Mader) Wentzell. He had spent his lifetime operating the family farm at New Canada where he was happiest cutting and splitting wood and tending his bountiful veggie garden. He was a foreman with the Dept. of Transportation during the 70’s. He worked for a number of years as Poll Chairman for various elections and always enjoyed a political debate. He leaves to mourn his only son, Cedric James and his wife Lucille. Grandchildren Scott Wentzell, Whitby ON.; and Christine (Stephen) Smith, Bridgewater. Great granddaughter and his pride and joy, Jessica Anne Smith; sister Audrey (Wentzell) Heim, Chelsea; brother Laurie and wife Dorothy, Montreal; several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his brother Melvin, West Northfield. His body rests at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 25 Phoenix Street, Bridgewater, Rev. Jim Slack Jr. and Rev. William Gustafson presiding. Interment to follow in Lakeside Cemetery, New Canada. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, St. James Lutheran Church.
