Obituary of Kathleen Joyce Weagle
Weagle, Kathleen Joyce
“Kate”
It is with deep sadness and gratefulness for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Kathleen (Kate) Weagle of Bridgewater at the age of 86, in the early morning hours of Jan 30th.
Kate was born in Gaspe, Quebec on Nov 4th, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Gordon and Edith Mullin.
As a young woman, she moved to Quebec City to complete high school and then to Montreal, for work. It was there that she met her husband (Alvin). She was blessed with a wonderful marriage of 56 years, family and many dear friends.
Kate was a long time member and Treasurer of St. Augustine’s/Holy Trinity Anglican Church. She was a lifetime member of the Conquerall Bank Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary where she and Alvin enthusiastically volunteered to help with many suppers and events over the years. In recent years, she loved going to the church’s Piecemaker’s Group enjoying friendship and crafts.
Kate was an amazing cook and baker, famous for her cherry pound cake and banana bread. She loved to knit, making the best socks and mittens for her family and numerous organizations in need.
Kate loved to spend time at the family cottage that she and Alvin built together at Aulenback’s Point, Lake Mushamush.; a place of cherished family memories. She enjoyed travelling to Gaspe with her family every summer.
She was truly caring and kind-hearted, always thinking of others.
She had a quiet demeanor but was always listening.
She was predeceased by her husband Alvin; sisters Nita Stanley and Mabel Phillips, Gaspe, Quebec.
She is survived by her son Mike (Andrea) Weagle, Halifax; daughters Kelly (Ken) Poole, Milford and Karen (Bill) Sheridan, Cole Harbour; grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Chris, Allie, Allyshia, Liam; great grandchildren Abigail and William; sister Patricia Patterson, Gaspe and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many health care professionals who provided such amazing care in her final journey. A special heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care team, Homecare and VON staff who allowed her to stay safely in her apartment, and neighbors and friends whose many small kindnesses were greatly appreciated.
