Deepest sympathy to Mike's Family. I knew Mike for many years when I worked at the Hubbards Branch. We shared many laughs over the years and exchanged crazy Christmas cards with a coupon from NSLC for 6 bottles of beer....back and forth the coupon went year after year until he told me that I could keep it as he was retiring. I still have all the cards and the coupon. We played a few jokes on other people that he worked with also. I was very sad to hear of his passing...Darlene Harnish

A friend since junior high, Mike was a wonderful person - generous in spirit and gentle in nature. I have so many great memories - of skating at the rink, of dances in the gym, of our Young Voyageur trip to Ottawa and Birtle, Manitoba, of loads of laughter in the halls and classrooms of BHS, and more recently, of class reunions and friend get-togethers and calls. I will forever remember your smile and laugh, which didn't change over the years. Mike - you will be greatly missed.

I was so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I have great memories of the fun the Mills' and the Cooks' had in the 70's as we spent our summers at Fancy Lake. We packed a lot of water skiing and fun into those summer days. I connected with Mike 25 years ago in Halifax where we were both bankers and enjoyed catching up on our careers and families.

Sue and family, our deepest condolences. Simply put, Mike was a quality guy. I met Mike during Acadia frosh week activities in 1978 and knew instantly that I had just made an "old friend". I have fond memories of our Acadia days and also life after Acadia. Mike introduced me to my wife (Ellen), we were best men at each other's weddings and so many other memories through the years. I especially enjoyed my weekly calls with Mike and cherished each one as time was growing short. He always maintained his usual positive disposition and we talked the way we did back in 1978. The world is a sadder place without Mike in it and we will miss him. Take care...Lorne & Ellie

Deb, Steve, Dave, Katrina;
My aunt Marlene sent me a link to Mike's obit, and I must say I was very sad to receive it. I remember Mike as a funny guy with a serious streak, undermined by an infectious laugh. I have quite a few memories but I will share one. Mike spent some time in Ontario in the mid/late 70's and used to drive back to Bridgewater for holidays, and this time I believe it was only a long weekend. At that time he drove a Chrysler Cordoba, I believe, and was telling us of his flying trip down, while in the company of two other CB equipped cars who ran interference for him, as they were all speeding, and Mike could not afford to get (another!!) speeding ticket! He had us all laughing at Mills Fancy. A really good guy.
It must be really tough to lose a sibling, especially to that dreadful plague on humanity...cancer. I lost my mom in 2013 and my wife lost her oldest sister in 2017 to the big C. And it doesn't take much to bring it all back. Time dulls but does not really heal. Treasure all the best memories.
My condolences to you all. I see your Dad has also passed, and I did not know that so sorry to hear that too. Again, very sad to hear your news. Take good care all.

Mike was a clear-headed straight shooter. Always quick to laugh, positive to a fault and first to help anyone. I always felt better during and after being in his company. Mike made his mark and left this world a better place than he found it. I will miss my friend. Sue and family, I offer my deepest condolences.

Sue and family, we were so sad to hear of Mike's passing. He was a wonderful, kind and generous man. He was my “go to” person for many years in the bank, and his knowledge and patience was unprecedented. I also considered him a good friend and often after talking “business” we would talk on the phone for much longer about everything else. I missed those calls when he retired and am sad we never did get that golf game in. Hugs and prayers for you and your family. Kelly Hayes

Mike, it is with heavy heart I am writing this. We shared so many great years and memories at work, going back over 40 years. Your decency as a human being and your great integrity were an inspiration to anyone who knew you. You will forever remain in my thoughts pal. My deepest hugs go out to Sue and your family.

The last time we saw Michael was when the Mills cousins drove from Nova Scotia to Moncton to have lunch with the Rae cousins. It was such a wonderful time filled with laughter and so many great memories. Sending hugs and condolences, and thanks for the best memories.
