It's funny how you think of people from time to time. We would cut 30+ logs a year and Kurt would come out in April to saw them. I was younger then and after a few years my father would step away and I would be Kurt's helping hand for the day as most of the logs went to structures I was building. Dad always said that Kurt was a special type of person, the kind of person everyone should inspire to be. I didn't notice at first, but as the years went on I started to see that he was always happy, no matter the troubles he encountered while sawing or the weather that came with it. He was a man of few words but would talk briefly about his passions during our breaks (of which he took very few because he truly loved to work). Over the years I came to highly respect Kurt and his way of life and thinking. A few years ago when I was looking to have some logs sawed I learned that he wasn't available to work and hired someone else. It just wasn't the same as having Kurt around. Fast forward a year or two and my father called me while I was working patrol as a police officer in Dartmouth. He told me of Kurt's passing and I was floored. How a great man, who was so pleasant to be around, humble and would speak no ill of anyone would be taken from the world soo early brought me great sadness. Rest easy Kurt.

Deepest condolences to Kurt's family. We always enjoyed his smiling face and happy demeanor as a customer of his at the Lunenburg Farmer's Market. His dedication to his calling was obvious and so appreciated - he will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

It is with sadness that we learnt of Kurt's passing. He was a great co.worker at the Superstore and we always kept in touch. He fought the good fight and always never let his illness get him down. A great guy has now become a beautiful angel. Happy farming and meat cutting up there. Hugs.

Mona & family,
I was saddened to read of Kurt’s passing. I remember the teen dances in the little room off the kitchen in the McKean House in Conquerall Bank...Snoopy & the Red Baron was the favourite song.
He definitely was the happy farmer in the community...he will be missed.

Dear Mona and Family, I have such fond memories of Kurt from when we grew up together in Conquerall Bank, and all through our school years. Still remember the "Have a Heart" club we formed as kids. And how Kurt played the role of Romeo and I was the lucky Juliet in our high school Shakespeare play. Kurt was a kind and gentle guy, and was so well liked by all our classmates. I know that he struggled with cancer for many years, and still always greeted folks with that beautiful smile.
Sending you heartfelt condolences from Jim and I on your great loss.

I’m sorry for your deep and profound loss. Kurt was the most kind and gentle person I’ve ever met. A loss to us all.
Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For though from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

Hello Mona. I can't believe that I'm writing this. I was thinking of Kurt the other day and wondering what he was up to. Looking at some pictures last night that mom had given me and one was of Kurt visiting at our house in Conquerall Bank. We look like we're maybe 7 or 8.
My deepest condolences to you, Greg and Larry and Kurt's family.
Don't know if you heard, Dad passed away on March 22nd.
Thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Take care.
