Jessie Green

Obituary of Jessie Green

Green, Jessie – Age 91.

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jessie Green, aka “Nanny Green”, age 91 on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Mahone Nursing Home in Mahone Bay. Although Newfoundland was home, she was a long-time resident of North Sydney, until she and her husband Enos moved to Bridgewater in February of 2012.

Born in Rencontre West, Nfld., Jessie was the daughter of the late George and Ethel (Chapman) Peters. Jessie was a faithful (former) member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, and a current member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Bridgewater, NS.

Jessie was a long-time member of the St. John’s Anglican Church Altar Guild in North Sydney and a strong supporter of any events held at both St. John’s and St. Paul’s.  Known for her baking of bread, knitting of dish cloths, and making of Mars Bar squares, Jessie loved to feed others and no belly left her table empty. Her hospitality knew no bounds. She loved her family and spending time with family and friends.  She loved the moon, stars and sun, hot tea, playing cards, going to church and in recent months her pussycat named “Luna”.

She is survived by her son, Ford (Valerie Kean), Baddeck; daughters, Jane (William) Standing, PEI, Linda Moore (Norm Lanciaux), Bridgewater, and Sandra (Geoffrey) Schnare, Bridgewater; grandchildren Donald (Vivian) Standing, Derek Standing, Amanda Standing, Cathy (Armand) Steenbeek, Cheryl Moore (Scott Power), Melissa (Derek) Cogswell, Donald Green, Patrick (Sheena Moore) Green, Joshua (Alisha Hosein) Green and Devin (Kassidy Eisnor) Schnare; also 11 great-grandchildren, Cameron (Allie), Emma (Jeremy), Jacob, Tristen (Payton), Victoria (Keith), Cassandra (Chad), Jaydia, Samuel (Olivia), Jewel, Ethan, Sophia, and Anderson. Sister-in-law, Rosie Cake, as well as many dear nieces and nephews.

Jessie was predeceased by her husband, Enos Ford Green Sr.; her brother Harold (Blanche) Peters; sister Mary (Donald) MacIver; half-brother James (Beatrice) Stone; infant daughter Gladys and stillborn baby girl; son-in-law Larry Moore; daughter-in-law, Patricia Green; granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Moore; great-granddaughter Jessica Maria Cogswell; sisters-in-law, Lizzie (George) Sitland and Mary (George) Miles; brother-in-Law Richard, (Shirley) Green and brother-in-law Abraham Cake.
