Haiku Canada held a conference in Wolfville, Nova Scotia in May of 2024. There was a special tribute reading of Margaret's haiku for 15 minutes by the President of Haiku Canada. I am so proud that they honoured her this way. Her words still touch people and can make them laugh. The video can been found on Youtube under Margaret Rose Rutley. Lots of love -- Sidney Bending

Margaret Rutley Tribute
The kindest person I have ever known passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She wrote lyric and haiku poems published in Canada, USA, UK, Africa, India, and New Zealand. Co-created a book of haiku and related poems with Sidney Bending in 2020 called Whether Forecast. Published poems for 7 years as part of The Heron's Quill with Sidney Bending and Nika (Jim Force). Sang in a nightclub in Halifax, played a grand piano on main stage, taught her grown children and young grandson piano, played guitar for years for her Brownie Group. Typed, proofread braille, even creating a few new symbols. Won prizes and awards with Avon. Trained dogs and rode horses. Decorated cakes. Most of her life, hiked 5 km a day. Served her country in the airforce. Raised a kind and compassionate family.

Dear Jim and family. Please accept my sincere condolences in the the passing of your dear wife, who was a mother, grandmother ,mother-in-law, aunt and sister. She had a rough few years since coming back to Nova Scotia. May she rest in peace. Your entire family were an example of how to say goodbye to a person who is well loved.
