So sorry to hear of Doris passing. She was a wonderful person first, and rug hooker second. My mother, Kaye Magwood, and I enjoyed our visits with her at many rug hooking gatherings. My thoughts are with you, at this time.

Doris was such a caring and giving person that anyone who met her felt welcomed. She had a true interest in people and what their interests and dreams were. When she asked how are you ? - She truly wanted to know how you were doing. She put people at ease and always made them feel at home whether they were young or old. Its been far too many years since I've had a chance to talk with her but as a young guest at the Wentzell farm she accepted us with a grace that made any visit a treat. She had a way of guiding conversations to focus positively on what the future may hold for you. She came to Truro for a rug hooking conference and took the time to call and see how things had turned out for me and my family.
My condolences go out to Karen , Robbie, Donna, Krista and all your families. She made the world a better place for all who knew her. She will be missed but not forgotten. - Brian Woodbury

With great sadness, I send condolences to Doris' family and friends. My mother and Doris loved Green Bay, and Doris was a dear loyal friend to mom for many years. Mom died in May, so I guess now Doris can resume her friendship with mom and compare their wings and check out their surroundings!! I will miss Doris' bright cheery smile. Let's honor her by spreading our own bright smiles!

To Doris's family, I feel privileged to have had Doris as a friend for the last 25 years. We met through rug hooking and involvement with the historical society. We shared travel, visits with tea and laughter, interesting reading material, going to craft shows and concerts and above all, genuine friendship. I treasure the short conversation we had the day before she died.
My sincere condolences to all of you as you navigate life without her. RIP Doris, my dear friend. Regina

To Doris Wentzell family:
I had many fond memories of Doris when she volunteered at the DesBrisay Museum. We had many great talks about history and she was a proud supporter of the many events and fund raisers over the years. She loved to show off her rug hooking to the many visitors and was a true treasure who will be greatly missed by all her museum friends.

Just heard about Doris’s passing today. She was a vibrant and with it woman. I too have said goodbye to a with it and vibrant woman, Shirley Cohrs. I’m glad they shared a love of bridge and met once a week to play. Like Doris , Shirley was ahead of her time and enjoyed a long prosperous life. They will be missed every day. Please accept my sincere condolences . Lise Bell

Dear Wentzell family - I'm very sad to see that you have lost Doris, but I know she had a long and fulfilling life. I first got to know her through Glasfax District V, and the Nova Scotia Museum, and one of my fondest memories is of her taking me around to obscure graveyards in the Petite to Bush Island area - at the end I was exhausted and she was just getting going! Very sorry for your loss - I thought the world of Doris.

I am pleased to make comments on Doris. She was a dear friend to my wife, Jinny and me. She was a wonderful booster for my books and bought every one I published. We corresponded regularly by email until just recently. My condolences to the family.
