Baxter, Edith Mae - Age 87, of Richmond, B.C. passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, in Harbourview Haven Nursing Home, Lunenburg, N.S. where she had been residing. Born December 22, 1935 in Pennfield, N.B., she was a daughter of the late King Winn and Clara (Justason) McLean.
Edith will be greatly missed by daughters, Angela (Mike) Worsley, Lower Onslow; Jocelyn (Mark) Wentzell, Newburne; sons, Stephen (Theresa), Burnaby, B.C.; Bruce (Kathy), Kincardine, O.N.; Edwin, Seachelt, B.C.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sisters, and Maxine Card, Pocologan, N.B., and Mary Lou Winn, of Miramichi, N.B. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Harry Alford Baxter and her daughter, Maxine Louise Sullivan.
Edith met her husband, Harry in Fredericton, while attending Teachers College (Home Economics). They raised six children and lived in various communities across Canada. Edith was a wonderful cook and taught all her children to excel in the kitchen. As well, she was an amazing seamstress and shared these skills with her daughters. Edith and Harry travelled extensively; had huge vegetable gardens that they shared with their community; had a passion for hiking, canoeing, and fishing which always resulted in Edith ending the day with the largest catch.
Special thanks to Lynn Key, Heart to Heart In-Home Care, Back Harbour Square, and Harbourview Haven staff for the kindness and care over the past year.
