Obituary of Margaret Rosemary Ansell

MARGARET (MAGGI) ANSELL  26 June 1947 – 12 Jan 2023

Maggi died peacefully at home after accessing MAiD, following the aggressive return of cancer.  The past few years she has loved being an active member and instructor at Elderfit, and part of that great family.  In honour of Maggi’s wishes, she will be cremated, and no memorial service will be held.  We can all celebrate the life of Maggi through sharing stories and memories of her.

She has enjoyed a full life, travelling with her husband, Robin, for his work as an engineer, and living in several different countries.  They also sailed across the South Pacific to Australia, staying with tiny island communities.  She has been a teacher, a medical secretary, a dressmaker/tailor, and scuba diving instructor.  She has written books of her adventures.  Encouraged by her pilot husband she learned to fly and held a British and a Canadian Private Pilot’s licence.  Amid a busy life she also fitted in time to study at the University of Toronto as a mature student to earn a B.Sc. in Psychology and Linguistics.  Maggi & Robin left their lavender farm in BC in 2012 to retire to Nova Scotia, on the beautiful LaHave River, and have never been disappointed by its magnificence.

She is survived by her husband and best friend, Robin, of 55 years; two wonderful children, daughter Lisa (Pete) Phillips in PEI; son, Bill (Laurie) Ansell in Ontario; and four lovely grandchildren:  Alexander Phillips, Mitchell Ansell, Elizabeth Phillips, and Jessica Ansell.
