So sorry to hear about Jim's passing. I had the pleasure of meeting him because of my husband, Robert Myra. Whenever, Robert and I were in his company, there was always a laugh and of course a drink in their hands. Usually at the Bridgewater Royal Canadian Legion. I heard many stories of the good old days when Jim was a police officer and he would drop into the Sea Breeze Restaurant in Western Shore, to see Robert. It was always fun to listen and knew they had good times. Stay strong. My prayers are with you.

Dear Jason and Julie,
I recently reconnected with your Dad when we had our staff party at The Lighthouse Motel and Cottages for the last 2 years. It was so terrific to talk about the “old times” with your dad, about when you lived across the street from us in Chester. Your dad was a great storyteller and a friend to my parents and to me too ❤️ my sincere condolences to you xoxo Nicole Harrington Gale

My condolences to all of Jim’s family on his passing.
I have so many fond memories working with Jim in the early 70’s in Stewiacke, and not near enough space to elaborate.
Anyone who ever met Jim will never forget him, from his deep voice to his antics .
Any time running into Jim over the years ,led to historical laughing over memories from the past.
RIP Jim I will never forget

To Jackie and Family, I was saddened to read of Jim's passing, I knew he hadn't been well. Jim and I had met many years ago when I was in Truro and he was in Stewiacke. Our paths crossed many times over the years, but more since we had both been stationed in Chester. We had lots of boating get togethers with the Askew's, Lightfoot's, Coyle's and other characters well known to all.. Jim was a great guy, always laughing and having fun, he certainly knew a lot of people and was very well liked by everyone. I've thought of him a lot lately and had a few chuckles to myself over some of the escapades that we all went through. Jackie, I know health wise, things have been tough for you also so take care and God bless you and family. RIP Jim., there will be lots of company to greet you.

I worked with Jim for a couple of years in Chester and as I read through the memories the images of a hearty laugh, a glass of rum and being on and around boats certainly describe the man. Before my time, the boys recommended a local barber but didn’t tell Jim he was deaf, which led to a few good stories. Jim tipped me off when it was my turn!
A life well lived.

As I sit here writing this I am reminded just how short life is and how quickly time passes, especially time spent with a friend like Jim. My wife and I met Jim 40 years ago and had our first trip on the Sable Light. Little did I know then it would be a friendship lasting decades. Jim was a person so full of life and a hearty laugh that was contagious. There was no way you could be down or depressed around him, he lived life to the fullest and we were all just along for the ride. He loved being on the water and having lots of friends around while he entertained everyone to the fullest. You could not be with Jim without having a constant smile on your face. Jim was a big man with a big hearty laugh and an even bigger heart. Over the years we became more like brothers than friends. He was one who was always there for his friends and family, a person you could count on. During the several trips Jim and Jackie made to Newfoundland there was never a shortage laughs, food or drinks. Whenever we spoke on the phone, at the end of the conversation he would end by saying...luv ya buddy. Jim, you were always a good friend and so good to Cathy and myself over the years, we will miss you dearly. Our deepest, heartfelt sympathies go out to Jackie, and Jim's family. May your memory forever be a blessing. Dave & Cathy Moore....."Luv ya buddy"

So sad to see this. Harv was a one of a kind guy! Its hard not to smile thinking of Jim and the many antics, some of which i was involved in during the Sable Light days. Trips down to Chester Race Weeks with Sable Light leading the floatilla. Nobody enjoyed their boat; I don’t care if it was a yacht worth millions, sail or power; more than Harv did. I would call this a life well lived!

Our hearts are filled with tremendous sadness with the passing of our dear friend and member of The Lighthouse team, Captain Jim. Jim was truly a larger-than-life character. We were honoured and proud to have him as one of our ambassadors.
Jim was a very big part of The Lighthouse family for the last 5 seasons.
Jim hosted and guided our riverboat tours (along with his first mate Jaxon) to countless guests.
His zest for life was contagious; he lived life to the fullest and was at home with people.
He was never short on stories of life on the LaHave River and his many years as an officer with the RCMP.
Those who would partake in our river tours would go on about Jim and his tales.
It wasn’t uncommon to hear guests say that it was the ‘highlight of their Maritime vacation’.
That pretty much sums up Captain Jim.
He was our biggest cheerleader and supporter, always looking out for us and the business.
This is a significant, unexpected loss for us, as Jim was a key part in the transformation of The Lighthouse experience,
and we share our success with him. He became a very close friend along the way, and he will be missed beyond words.
Rest in peace, dear Jim.
Thank you for all the joy, the laughter, and friendship.
Your spirit lives on in all who knew you.

Condolences to the family. Jim and I went to a few different schools together. Jim started his RCMP training in Ottawa about the same time as I started in Regina. We served in neighbouring detachments, and then were in Stewiacke at the same time - if memory serves me correctly. There has been a lot of water under the bridge since then. I hope to get to the reception to share stories in memory of Jim.

We were so very sad to hear about Jim’s passing on Friday. Our sympathies go out to Jacki and the family. We had the pleasure of spending time with Jim and Jackie over the last few years, while staying at the Lighthouse Motel. It started with a boat ride, but grew into a friendship that created many fond memories. We had such fun! The Lahave River will never be the same without Jim cruising the waters, greeting everyone as he went along. He was a kind, good hearted gentleman. We will miss our Captain Jim!

FAMILY OF JIM. I knew and worked with Jim over many years during our service together. There were many good times as well as bad, which is what life is all about. We never exchanged any resentments towards one another that I am aware of. I could not join Jim after my retirement in 1992 as I moved out of province. However, I contacted him at his lovely home on the LaHave in the last two years and we renewed our friendly battle of insults on two occasions while out on the water - which we both loved. We shared a common love of sharing our boating adventures with friends and family many times; ahoy Sable Light from the Chablis. Condolences to Jacki and family……….Sadly Jim is on his last patrol………Ron Grinham
