Obituary of Carole Ann Baker
BAKER, Carole Ann – Age 83, of Crescent Beach passed away peacefully at South Shore Regional Hospital on Monday, December 4th, 2023, after a lengthy, but courageous, battle with COPD. Born on February 17th, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Marion (Corkum) and Percey Baker.
Despite the sadness of the time Carole was always surrounded by her family who loved her dearly.
Carole married late Theodore “Ted” Baker on August 2nd, 1958. She and Ted worked as CNA’s for 15 years at the Cole Harbour Hospital in Dartmouth, NS before deciding to move back home to Crescent Beach in 1971. Carole grew up in Dublin Shore and worked for many years at Rissers Store in West Dublin.
Carole loved flowers and gardening, watching the hummingbirds in the window, and always keeping a tidy home. She cherished spending time with her family. Carole was a deeply caring and loving woman, with a kind heart, and she touched the lives of all those who knew her. With her famous “Baker smile”, sassy spunk, and stubborn streak, she will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her son, Keith (Heather) Baker, of Bridgewater; daughters, Jackie (David) Swaine of Bridgewater, Tania Baker, of Crescent Beach, and Tammy Baker, of Bridgewater; her grandchildren, Jordan (Cheryl Doliver) Baker, of Spectacle Lakes, Kyleigh (Ian Davidson) Swaine, of Edmonton, AB, Katie (Joey Wallace) Swaine, of Fredericton, NB; her great-grandson, Jack Baker; and her furry grandbabies, Kramer, Molly, and Henry. She was predeceased by her husband, Ted Baker; her parents, Marion and Percey Baker; and her brother, Jon Baker.
The family is especially grateful for the love and support from extended family, friends and acquaintances near and far. Carole was loved by so many, and especially by her family.
We would also like to thank the team of Nurses that cared for Mom over the last couple of months while she was in the hospital, they were so caring and kind during this time. Also, a thank you to Dr. G. Thibodeau and Dr. Solomon for their support, guidance and care. And finally, thank you to Sweeny’s Funeral Home for their guidance and kindness during this very difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Donations can be made to the Lung Association of NSPEI, Canadian Cancer Society, SHAID Tree Animal Shelter, or charity of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater, where online messages of condolence can be made at www.sweenysfuneralhome.com
