Elizabeth "Betty" Rafuse

Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" Rafuse

Elizabeth (Sarty) Rafuse passed away peacefully in the early hours of February 11th, 2024. Predeceased by the love of her life, Carl and later by her companion George (who she was very fond of), Elizabeth was greeted in heaven by her 6 siblings, her parents and many dear friends. Elizabeth leaves behind her devoted children Steven (Brenda) and Judy (Melbourne), her grandchildren Jesse (Kelly) and Willa (Kelvin) as well as her great-grandchildren Owen, Aila and Elizabeth who affectionately called her BB. Elizabeth will be missed by her nieces and nephews, many of whom she had very special relationships with as well as life-long friends who are considered family.

We celebrate Elizabeth's zest for life, her steadfast faith and generous nature. She touched so many lives while working at Sears, volunteering at Verge House and being active in church groups and sewing circles. Known for her sense of style, we know Elizabeth is strutting her stuff on the runway while singing her heart out with her hair done just so. Her famous all-meat pizza will never be duplicated. A celebrated artist, Elizabeth's paintings will hang as reminders of not only the beauty of her life but the beauty she saw in the places she loved most, including her "Old Homestead".

Elizabeth's family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Hillside Pines Home for Special Care. You helped fill the last season of Elizabeth's life with love, music, laughter and caring. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to donate to the Calvary Lutheran Church in Middlewood, Wounded Warriors Canada, or any charity of choice supporting Veterans.

Visitation will be held from 2-3pm on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater. A Celebration of Elizabeth's life will begin at 3:00pm on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, also at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Internment to be announced at a later date.
