Obituary of Cassie Lynn Lowe

CASSIE LYNN LOWE

MAY 25, 1965 – FEBRUARY 12, 2024

On Monday, February 12, 2024 we had to say goodbye to our beautiful daughter, our dear sister, our faithful friend and companion, Cassie. She fell asleep suddenly and left us for another world.

Cassie was born on May 25, 1965 in the Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater to Winston and Hilda Joudrey. She grew up in New Germany and attended the schools there. She married Gordon Lowe and lived in New Germany and in Milton, Queens County for a number of years. Then after the death of her husband, in 2004, she moved to Iqaluit, Nunavut to make a new start. She had numerous jobs there but finally went to work at the Qikiqtani General Hospital in laundry and housekeeping and finally as an Archive Record Keeper, which was a job she loved. Her friendly manner and love of people brought her many friends, and she was happy to be there. She did, however, keep in touch with things at home in the New Germany area and would keep her parents up to date from afar. She even knew what was on sale at Delong’s fruit and vegetable stand in Barss Corner. One thing we know for sure about Cassie was her love of shopping – especially a good sale, so you may see her next time you are out and about; she will be the one with the “BIG” shopping bag, full to the top.

She was an excellent cook and baker and turned-out wonderful food; but she also liked to eat out - especially with some of her cousins and that may be Cassie that you saw at the Turkey Burger eating a big plate of fish and chips and sharing a good laugh and a joke or two.

Cassie was also very artistic and good at many crafts. Our home has many of her pieces on our walls and shelves.

Cassie leaves to morn her passing, partner, Norman Nowdluk, Iqaluit and her two beloved dogs, Kaji and Bailey; father and step-mother, Winston and June Joudrey, New Germany; her brothers, Michael (Sonya) Joudrey, Stanley Section; Richard (Corinne) Joudrey, Barss Corner; step-brother, Jacob (Wanda) Baker; step-sister, Nadine (Douglas) Tanner and nieces, Kelsey (Ryan) (Aubrey and Lillis) Veinot, Danielle (Brandon) Joudrey, Holly Joudrey, Emily Baker and Sophia Baker; nephew, Owen Joudrey; Uncle Leigh and Aunt Beulah Dauphinee, as well as many other aunts, uncles and cousins, too numerous to name but all very important.

She was predeceased by her mother, Hilda (Joudrey) at an early age; and by her husband, Gordon Lowe; also many aunts, uncles and cousins from both sides of the family.

A special thank you to the staff of Qikiqtani General Hospital for all the love and attention given to our Cassie when she worked there. They were always there with a helping hand when she needed them.

A Service in Celebration for the Life of Cassie will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024 in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Highway 10, New Germany. Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. Family flowers only, donations may be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 Highway 10, New Germany, where on-line condolences may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.

“Go in Peace, Dear Cassie, With Our Love”
