Malcolm and I have many warm memories of times spent with Joan and Gordon. We were very fortunate to have them as neighbours. They shared their interests and knowledge of antiques, horses and carriage driving. Lots of great stories of times past were shared over many a cup of tea or fireside drink.
Joan’s wee church, Seacroft Antiques was always an interesting and welcoming spot to visit.
Our condolences to all the family on the passing of your dear Mother, Joan.

Although many years since seeing Joan, she brings such a warmth to mind with memories of visits at the carriage house over a cup of tea. She embodied the best of us with her kindness and gentle ways. Take care of each other as you face life without her.
Fondly,
Michele and Geoff Flack

I was saddened to read of Joan's passing. I have fond and warm memories of her from the Antique Shows we used to do at Exhibition Park. She had such an exceptional collection of Flow blue, Blue Willow and other blue transfer ware. She was a kind , friendly person who respected her 'antiquities' and her customers. I always thought of her as the "Blue Lady" and often wondered if she still lived in the Big House on the corner whenever I drove through Day Spring. Your day was always brightened after a conversation with Joan. May Peace and Grace be with you all...Ken Bezanson [ an Antique dealer/acquaintance from years past].

To Joan's family,
I was sorry to hear of Joan's passing. My deepest and heartfelt sympathy on your loss. I had the pleasure of getting to know and working with Joan for many years at Holy Trinity. I still have her recipe for Cheesy Appetizers and she would make them when we had a tea at the church. She was a beautiful soul with an amazing smile. Joan, may you rest in peace and rise in glory.
Peace, prayers and blessings to all of her family.
God bless, Connie English

Margot, Jennifer, Anne, Tim & family,
I have so many fond memories with your Mom & Dad. My first recollection was with Joan & Girl Guide badge testing. Several of us were welcomed into your home on Alex Ave to be tested for our Home Nursing badge. Later it was with our 2 sailboats rafted up in Snug Harbour…an exciting adventure when we put our feet down into water, inside the boat. Our times continued with horsing adventures. Somewhere I have a picture of Joan in one of the sleighs drawn by Dawn as well as Margot’s kids with our little Welsh pony, Beau. Cherish the memories you have.
Thinking of you all at this time. A donation will be made to SS Hospice & Palliative Care in your mom’s name.
Kerry & Cathy

To the Gillis Children and their extended families.
Your mother was a wonderful woman with a very kind heart. She was a great neighbour and someone I loved to visit. The world needs more people like Joan Gillis. I will always remember her showing me her prom photo and her date being Hollywood actor Don Sutherland who was also a Bridgewster High School student. I often wish I had a copy of that wonderful photo.
My thoughts are with you and I hope all the wonderful memories on Alexandra Ave. will help during this sad time. My condolences to you.
