Dear Marilyn and family,
Several friends let us know about Ernie's death and we were deeply saddened to learn this news. His obituary was so informing about this special man--such a fine tribute. We have lots of memories of our days when we lived in Bridgewater, and our sons were born there. You and Ernie had a young family too, and we both served in Kinsmen and Kinettes. It's feels like 'the good old days' as we are now in our 80s.
We offer our heartfelt sympathy to each of you in Ernie's roles of husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. May your memories of him bring each of you comfort in your loss, joy in having had him in your lives, and even smiles and laughter in the days ahead.
We are unable to attend his Celebration of Life in Bridgewater or via streaming because of a previous commitment. Please know that we will be thinking of each of you and hold you in our hearts; we'll be with you in spirit on Saturday. Grace and Richard Beazley

Marilyn and family - When I took over the South Shore Regional Library in 1984, Ernie was a supportive Chair of the Library Board - he was Mayor at the time and represented Bridgewater Council on the Board. He introduced me to the ways of Lunenburg, Bridgewater, Queens and Chester. We did not always agree about Library policies and operation, but had respectful and interesting discusions as we worked our way to solutions. In later years we often met each other in town - shopping or banking or running errands - and had brief and pleasant conversations. I was very fond of Ernie and will miss our interactions. Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss.

I have so many wonderful memories of Ernie growing up on Glenridge as we played on the street and spent time at each other's houses. He was always warm, kind, generous and fun. His complete devotion to his family was obvious, even to me as a young child. He always made me feel more like extended family than a neighbour. I am sending my deepest condolences and keeping you all in my heart through this difficult time.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Above and beyond other attributes and qualities; Ernie was known widely as a devoted family man. Somehow he carved out a huge amount of time to devote his talents to his community as Mayor and contributor to many other charitable organizations. Ernie worked with Arthur for many years as a loyal and trusted person of the Acadia group of companies. He was a dear friend to Arthur and visited him regularly after Arthur retired. He continued those cherished visits with me after Arthur's death. Kindness was his second name. His warm smile will be remembered by many.
My thoughts and prayers are with Marilyn and the family he so dearly loved.
May you rest in peace and in joy in your heavenly home.

Mervyn and Joyce Norwood:
Dear Marilyn, Andrea, Brian, Jane, and families. So sorry and sad to hear of Ernie’s passing. It will leave a void in everyone’s heart who knew him – never to be filled.
We grew up a few miles apart, attended the same church and Sunday school, played sports together - in the early days (softball - without gloves, ping pong – on a barn door), and in later days (golf – lots of golf). We remember fondly the family summer vacations with friends and families in PEI. And the many fishing/canoeing trips in the back lakes and streams. I remember his yellow and black Crown Victoria – we both loved nice cars. Visits to the apartment in Fairview, the new house on Glenridge (with baby Andrea), and of course, the back yard leveling project – all fond memories. And the many card games played (we both had this notion that losing was not a good thing). We enjoyed the music get-togethers (the Johnny Cash and Don Williams songs, and Glendie singing Mountain Dew). Memories of the sing-along for his 80th birthday, and for their 60th wedding anniversary, will remain forever. In sports, the very frequent phone call discussions on MLB, PGA, NHL, and curling will be missed. Memories of the visits to see us here in Florida will be with us forever.
Unfortunately, we are unable to attend the funeral in person, but we will be joining on-line. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I know that Ernie is in good hands now and watching everyone in the family. Can’t think when you all haven’t been part of our friendship circle. Early on, Andrea baby sat as we went to so many Kinsmen activities . Bob and Ernie always were together in the professional world in Bridgewater and have been great friends while continue to golf some and later playing cards. We did many socials at the house, many steak, lobsters and beer consumed. We also enjoyed the ocean with bonfires when children were young and later years just walking the beaches. Marilyn was always my partner in swimming while Bob and Ernie chatted. Sending our love at this difficult time. Your strong faith in God will be your pillar of support and strength.

So very sorry for your loss , Ernie was a friend to all. In our community, although we didn't realize it, Ernie was a role model to all of us younger than him. Remembering playing softball in the cattle pasture, scrub football , my transportation on Friday Saturday nights to Bridgewater and back, to later in life ,5 AM golf at the old Bridgewater course. Ernie was a friend to all ,always with that smile and energy he made others feel better. He had a very kind heart ,was generous in many ways and will be greatly missed by all those lives he has touched. Let all the great memories of him help heal the loss at this time. Brian,Marilyn, and family: sincerest condolences in the passing of Ernie. To describe Ernie would be a subject long and lengthy with a barrage of adjectives all focused using words related to honesty, hard work, and family. You will need to roll the history books back a long way to find a more fitting ambassador for the Town of Bridgewater. Of all the stories I remember Brian telling me what it was like to be growing up in Ernie's house, rule 1 family 1st; a rule down the list, " a clean car runs better". Society needs more people like Ernie, society will not be the same without him. Hugs from Glen and Anne-Marie Veinot, Hammonds Plains.

Marilyn, Andrea, Jane and Brian,
Our condolences on Uncle Ernie’s passing. He was a truly remarkable man. Many fond Bolivar memories and moments are punctuated by Uncle Ernie’s presence.
One that stands out in recent years is when Christa made her first visit over to Nova Scotia to meet the Bolivars. She came straight into the Bolivar Pre-Christmas Dinner arranged by Ernie at the Pizza Delight. He met us at the door with a huge smile, introduced himself to Christa and escorted us inside with energy and gusto, where he proceeded to introduce Christa to all the other members of the Bolivar family. Christa was welcomed into the family from the word “Hello.” He had a great knack for entertaining and for making people feel welcome and special. That continued on every visit thereafter, when he welcomed all three of us back home. He was a truly exceptional personality, and we were fortunate to have known him and to call him family.
Lots of love,
Neil, Christa and Mary Clare Bolivar
