I first met Barb when she was my Scout leader, among the first women in the role. A dedicated volunteer, I would see her so many times over the years helping others, or if I bumped into her walking she would always stop to say hello. She was an incredible person and will be missed. My condolences to Barb's family and friends.

We were so sorry to hear of Barb’s passing. She was such a Faith filled lady and she was a big part of our church family. She babysat our two oldest sons when they were little. They thought she was the best, as she loved the Montreal Canadians and that was their favourite team. They would watch the hockey games together on a Saturday night if we were out. We often brought her home from church or a church event. She was caring, always asked about the family, always with a smile, and she will be missed. Our deepest sympathy to her nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Rest in Peace Barb. Bill and Nora McInnis & Family

I have talked to Barb over the years as she walked along St. Andrews St. What an amazing, friendly and caring person. She would always stop to have a chat. She will truly be missed. My condolences to her friends and family who have to mourne this event. I know she is among all of the angels watching over us.

My condolences to all of Barbs extended family. Her parents George and Nora were close friends and mentors. I still miss my visits both to town ,then to their country cottage and finally downsizing to an apartment in town. Barb and I had a lot in common , from music to scouts and cubs. We continued to communicate at Christmas time these past years. She was an example to all.

I met Barb when I joined the South Shore Chorale in the mid 80's. We were both altos and I often depended on her strong voice for support as I became accustomed to new music. She was missed by the choir when throat surgery meant she could no longer join us but she remained a strong supporter of the Chorale and rarely missed a concert. It was always pleasant to be in her company even when she was in a hospital bed. My sincere condolences to her family.

I remember Barbara from high school in Antigonish. I was a frequent visitor to her home where her parents treated me as one of their own. A ver6 kind a caring family. Was just thinking about Barbara a few days ago and wondered what her life had been like. Rest in peace my long ago friend.

When I think of Aunt “B” I think of poems and stories, of which she had many to share and tell. I searched for the perfect poem that best describes who she was to me…
May you rest in eternal peace. Till we meet again, Love always, Syl oxo
We Had a Wonderful Aunt
Author Unknown
We had a wonderful aunt,
One who never really grew old;
Her smile was made of sunshine,
And her heart was solid gold;
Her eyes were as bright as shining stars,
And in her cheeks fair roses you see.
We had a wonderful aunt,
And that’s the way it will always be.
But take heed, because
She’s still keeping an eye on all of us,
So let’s make sure
She will like what she sees.

I was just thinking of Barb a little while ago. I met her at the Dawson Memorial when I worked there in the pharmacy..... She worked with the children in the pediatric department. Of course that was “a while” ago ! Since then I would meet her at the no frills location and give her a drive home. She never changed, always friendly, great with kids, and busy. I sorry to learn that she has passed, my most sincere condolences to you her family.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I met Barb, when I was a new nursing graduate in 1979, at the Dawson Memorial.
She was warm and friendly, she cared for her patients with enthusiasm and loved what she did. She was always ready with a smile and a story. After she left work, I would run into Barb at many community events such as the Bridgewater Fire Department Band concerts, where we would chat and catch up. She faced many challenges over the years but is remembered with fondness.
Blessings to your family

I am saddened to hear that Barb has left us. I have known her for so long I just thought she would always be there. I was recently with her after her move to Hillside Pines Apartments and we had a good long conversation. She told me of the move and we reminisced about all the music we were part of together at St. Joseph's in the choir. She often got a ride home with me and some of my children and she always had time for the kids and was interested in what was going on with them. I was sometimes helping her with technical problems and fixing some technology like a VCR or a DVD player. She on one occasion gave me a tape of the Visit to Halifax of then Pope John Paul II. She knew that it had an important meaning to me. She was such a wonderful part of our larger community. She worked hard for her own church and pitched in to help the Salvation Army at Christmas. I knew of her time with the Scouting movement which I had grown up taking part as well. She was just a sweet person. Some folks may not have gotten to know her but it seems everyone knew who she was because she was so much a part of community and she had so many times when she was so sick and she always seemed to will herself back to independent life. I will miss seeing her on my times around town and especially on her many walks with her determination to be independent and do for herself. I sometimes offered her a ride and we got a chance to talk as we drove. She was a great part of our community and we were better for having her in our family. Please accept my sincere condolence and know that she will always be remembered by us. I hope her memories will bring some comfort and happiness to you as time passes. Tim, Leslie, Sophia, Simon and Noah Clark.
