Obituary of Robert MacKenzie Cox
COX, Robert MacKenzie “Bob” – Age 80, of Parkdale, Lunenburg Co., passed away after a very brief illness with his family by his side, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Frederick and Marjorie (MacKenzie) Cox.
Bob’s working career was in construction, where he exercised his precise workmanship, always demonstrating the very best of his skills. He later became the maintenance supervisor for the South Shore Regional School Board, where he retired after 16 years. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing; but always loved time on his tractor, tending to the gardening and working on their property.
Family was always important to Bob, especially his loving wife of 30 years, Merna Pearl (Rhodenizer) Cox; son, Michael Cox, Truro; daughter, Jennifer Cox, Truro; sister, Judie McSween, Halifax; grandchildren, Kaitelyn, Jillian, Marcus, and Meagan; great-granddaughter, Sage; step sons, Robert (Joanne) DeLong, New Germany; Michael (Sherry) DeLong, Meisners Section; step grandchildren, Alisha, Tonya, Cody and Emma; step-great grandchildren, Landon and Ashtyn; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Peter McSween.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. Service of Remembrance will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 9 in Emmanuel Baptist Church of Parkdale-Maplewood. Rev. Sam Jess officiating. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Parkdale-Maplewood or the Maplewood-Parkdale Community Centre.
