Obituary of Phyllis Arlene Wessell
WESSELL, Phyllis Arlene (Knox) – Age 95, passed away on April 4th, 2024, in Hillside Pines Home for Special Care, Bridgewater. Phyllis was born June 2nd, 1928, to Arthur and Alma Knox of Bakers Settlement, N.S.
Phyllis leaves to mourn, her children, Arnold (Dianne) Wessell, Joey (Sherrie) Wessell, and Jackie (Dale) Lowe; stepdaughter, Julia Oickle; grandchildren, Jody, Stacy (Dwayne), Bobbi Jo, Leanne (Justin), James, Matthew, Angela (Blair), and Gina (Paul); great-grandchildren, Keegan, Brenna, Ethan, Fiona, Spencer, Michael, and Alana; sister, Greta Veinot; and many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, George Wessell; parents, Arthur, and Alma Knox; sister Margarite and her husband William; sister Dorothy Knox; brother, Harold and his wife Hazel; nephews Mervyn Knox, and Ronnie Crouse; and brother-in-law Perry Veinot, step-son in law, Paul Oickle.
Phyllis was a devoted Legion Member, and a lifelong member of the Women’s Institute. She also loved to travel and was an avid player of both bingo and cards. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will take place from 6-7p.m., Sunday, April 7th, in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater. Funeral Mass will take place at 11a.m., Monday, April 8th in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 123 Pleasant Street, Bridgewater. Public interment will take place following the service, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Chelsea.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis’ name may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #24 Elevator Fund, or a charity of choice.
