Obituary of Cedric James Wentzell
WENTZELL, Cedric James, 82 of Wileville, formerly of Bridgewater, NS. It is with great shock and sadness that the family announces Cedric’s sudden passing on April 25, 2024.
Born October 23, 1941, he was the only child of Donald and Theresa (Mader) Wentzell of New Canada, loving husband of 57 years to Lucille (Snyder) Wentzell, proud father of Scott (Janice) Wentzell, & Christine (Wentzell) Smith, and dear grandfather (Bumpa) of Jessica & Hunter Smith, and Serena Parsons, and dear and loving granddad to his grand dogs who he so adored, Ruby, Diamond, Rio, & Callie. They will sure miss him, too.
He attended New Germany Rural High School where in the summers he would go to Ontario to pick tobacco and cherished those memories and shared them with anyone who would listen. He took his training at the Chicago Vocational Training School, Montreal, for his mechanic course in 1963, and stayed with his Uncle Wilbur and Aunt Margaret while there. On weekends he would visit his Uncle Laurie & Aunt Dorothy in Verdun. He worked in many locations over the years including Raymond Langille’s garage and managed the service station on King St. (which he referred to as his service station), Bridgewater, Hebb Motors Bridgewater, Acadia Gas Engines, …Paceship Yacht, Mahone Bay, and the South Shore School Bus Garage, Bridgewater. In all of his places of work, he made many friends and memories of which he spoke of often.
He was a member of the Jaycees, Bowling League, Congregational Council Member for many years at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, Property Team member and he was very proud of all his many property improvements.
He was never happier than when he was spending time with his family at home and on vacation… particularly with Scott & Jan & Serena in Barrie ON, and when they moved to Nictaux most recently. He loved his veggie gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Cedric’s love of stories, camping, farm, travel, and family will always be treasured. One of his favorite journeys was a 5-week journey across Canada and cruise to Alaska.
Funeral service will take place at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 25 Phoenix St., Bridgewater, NS, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1st Rev. Paul Jensen Officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall.
Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, or the South Shore Regional Hospital.
