Obituary of Frances Amelia Feindel
FEINDEL, Frances Amelia - It is with great sadness the family of Frances Amelia Feindel, from New Germany, wish to announce her passing in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, at the age of 101. Born in Lunenburg, she was the daughter of Garnet Rhuland and Margaret (Tanner) Rhuland. She was the last living member of her immediate family. As a young girl she went to Lunenburg Academy, then she went to Ormys Beauty Shoppe in Bridgewater and in 1940 received her Diploma in Beauty Culture. She then worked in beauty shops in Lunenburg and Bridgewater. Frances liked to skate and played hockey on the Lunenburg women's hockey team. In 1942 she married Ronald Feindel, and in 1946 built their house in New Germany where she continued to do hair at home and lived there until she was hospitalized in January 2022. Mom loved family and enjoyed family get-togethers, summers spent at camp on Lake William, playing Bridge, drives to see colored leaves in the fall, drives to the beach in summer, and don't forget the ice-cream.
Frances is survived by her two daughters, Wendy Mader (Dennis Mader), Lunenburg, and Jane Feindel, Sunken Lake; grandchildren, John (Carol) Mader, Centre; Gwen Mader, Pentz, and Stephen (Leanne) Mader, Hebbs Cross; great-grandchildren, Shelby and Jarrett Mader; Aaron (Carly), Adam (Amber), and Amanda (Nina); 5th generation great-great grandchildren Hazel, Everett and Amos Rowlands; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Frances is predeceased by her parents; husband of 69 years Ronald (Ron) Feindel; sisters Margaret (Margie) Hiltz, Daisy Corkum, Mildred (Millie) Manthorne, and Shirley Mallalieu; brothers Garnet and Freeman (Freemie) Rhuland.
I, Wendy, wish to thank Dr. Sampson and all the staff on the Veterans Unit for all the support, care and compassion for my blind Mother Fran and me; Amy, for helping her with actives, volunteers for feeding her supper; Palliative Care for helping to make her passing peaceful; Andy for all his help and kindness; at home, Mary and Mike Harnish for all the years of help; Millie Durling, Rose and Glenwood Veinot for all the homecare.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at the Epworth United Church Cemetery, New Germany, on Wednesday, May 15th at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Neil McEwen officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Veterans Unit of Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, South Shore Hospice Palliative Care Society, or a charity of choice.
