Obituary of Marion Pauline Janes

It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that Sheila and Angie announce the sudden passing of their precious mom, Marion “Pauline” (Clarke) Janes, of Bridgewater. She passed away unexpectedly in her home on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the age of 69. She was predeceased by her husband John “Stanley” Janes.

Born on March 23, 1955 in Carbonear, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late John William Clarke and the late Emmie Bride (Vaters) Clarke. She was a loving sister to 13 siblings and many nieces and nephews.

As a young woman, Pauline ventured from her home in Newfoundland to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia where she built her life. Pauline devoted her life to her two loving daughters who she cherished with all of her heart.  Sheila (Mark) Lee and Angie (Travis) Cobean will miss the welcoming feeling of being in her home and the unconditional love she gave. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, who were the center of her world. Austin, Carter, Makenna, Kai and Ari will always remember their Nanny for her sense of humor, her kind gentle soul, her treats and her mac ‘n cheese.

Pauline loved a game of scrabble or yahtzee with her sisters, Gladys and Dorothy; and a game of crib with her niece, Velma. She enjoyed a good cup of Red Rose tea and a yarn with her dearest friend Carol-Anne.  She loved company and lived for family dinners where she would cook up a feast for as many as could fit in the kitchen.  Despite living most of her life in Nova Scotia, she held fast to her “Newfie” accent which everyone adored.  Anyone who knew our dearest mom, would describe her as full of life, laughter, kindness, forgiveness and everlasting love. 

We love you Mom, Nanny, sister, auntie, friend; forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life for Pauline will be held at a later date. Friends are invited to have a cup of Red Rose tea and leave messages of condolences at www.sweenysfuneralhome.com, at which time they will be shared at the gathering.
