Obituary of Ian Douglas Wilkie
WILKIE, Ian Douglas – Age 85, of Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2024, in Harbour View Haven Nursing Home, Lunenburg, where he had been residing. Born in Middle LaHave, he was the son of the late Douglas Thomas and Inga Eveline (Parks) Wilkie.
Ian was a branch manager and loans officer for the Bank of Montreal “BMO” for many years, until which time he decided to retire from the bank and begin a retail business, “Wilkie’s Wonderful World”, that he operated for several years, before enjoying the retired life.
Surviving are his wife, Jayne Louise (Clifton) Wilkie; Sherri Wilkie (Jamie Bates), Middle Musquodoboit; Pam Wilkie (Peter White), Middle LaHave; sons, Steve Wilkie, Middle Musquodoboit; Dhomas Tren, Fredericton; step-son, Shaun (Nadine) Parker, Moncton; grandchildren, Morgan (Joseph) Stevens and Cassie Parker.
Public visitation where the life of Ian will be celebrated, will be held 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 13 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater. A private graveside service will be held in Middle LaHave Cemetery, with Rev. Vivian Moores officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
