It is with great sadness that we announce that Captain George Pike passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024. He leaves behind his wife, Wendy; his “chosen adopted daughter” Barbara Jane; stepdaughter, Allalie (Vee); grandchildren, Nicholas, Jayla, Kalu and Soraya; great grandchild, Nora, whom he adored equally. Others to grieve are his brothers, Harvey, (Mary) Glenn, (Noreen) Roy (Ruth), Clyde, Allan (Rebecca); sisters, Marilyn (Richard), Lorraine and Yvonne (Al); brother-in- law, Randy Keddy (Barb); many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his mother Alma and his father George; stepsons, Bobby and Nathan, and brother-in-law, Doug Keddy.
George was a Captain on the Cape Mira in Lunenburg and Mersey Enterprise in Liverpool. He attended NSCC for three years receiving diplomas in Carpentry, Drafting and Architectural Drafting. He also worked as a Historical Interpreter at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic for many years. He was a good friend to all and loved the sea with his whole being. He spent forty plus years scallop and deep-sea fishing.
George was a member of West Side United Church in Pentz, Lahave Fire Dept., Maritime Motorcycle Association, and Lahave River Yacht club. George had many close friends over the years. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards and he particularly loved his motorbike and his boat. George was from Newfoundland and a very proud Newfoundlander. He never forgot where he came from!
