Obituary of Clayton E. Levy

LEVY, Clayton E. - Age 79, of Bridgewater. Our father passed away peacefully holding Mom's hand on October 6, 2024. Born October 4, 1945, Clay was the son of Malcolm "Mac" Levy and Pearl (Zinck). Disliking his middle name, Dad forbade us from saying it so we will omit it here. 

Growing up in Indian Harbour, he was well known in the area as a hard worker from a very young age and even worked on the local roads in his teens. He first ran the roads on foot, and then, being a natural born mechanic, in the biggest, fastest cars he could find. Driving expanded his world from "the Harbour" to all areas around St. Margarets Bay. It was at the head of the Bay where he met, and married the love of his life, Jane Wile. Their 60^th wedding anniversary is on December 5^th. 

In his twenties, Dad operated his own gas and service station, Levy's Irving, and then Levy's Trucking, as a tractor trailer owner/operator. Having completed the Plumbing, Heating and Ventilation course at Vocational School, he eventually settled on a 35+ year career with T.P. Calkin/Sumner/Emco as manager and/or salesman in Halifax, Bridgewater, Charlottetown, and Stellarton/New Glasgow. In the 1990's, he and Mom operated Kingfisher Enterprises, a marine supply/convenience store/gas bar in Mushaboom, NS. 

As much as he loved to drive and work, he loved his family more and was always there for us.  He lead by example and then gave us the wheel. Dad was always ready to give us a lift, either by car or with some good advice, and we are going to miss him terribly. Dad's capacity to care seemed limitless; involved with groups from 4H to Scouting, to Church and community organizations. As busy as he was, he could always find the time to be there for neighbors, friends and the community at large. His ingenuity to find solutions and ability to fix or build anything, was incredible. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant grandson, Zachary Michael MacNeil; daughter-in-law, Sheila Levy; and his brother, Jerry Levy. Clay leaves behind, his wife, Jane; daughter, Amy MacNeil (Paul), sons, Mark (Jeannie) and Jay (Carrie); many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and many cousins. 

Special thanks to Bruce and Marcia Wile for assisting Dad with his many projects over the past several years. The family would also like to thank Dr. Solomon, and the nurses and staff at the South Shore Regional Hospital for making Dad comfortable during his short stay. 

As per Dad's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Our immediate family will have an interment of ashes at a later date. In lieu of donations, please give your loved ones a hug in his memory.
