Obituary of Jeanette Elizabeth Dorey

DOREY, Jeanette Elizabeth – It’s with great love and deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of our beloved mother, Jeanette Elizabeth Dorey, on October 7th, 2024, at the age of 82 at Rosedale Nursing Home, New Germany. She was the daughter of the late Gladys Mae and Louis Selig, Sr.

Jeanette will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Darrell Dorey of Rosedale Nursing Home along with her 2 children, Tylor Dorey, Elmwood and Darnell Dorey (Scott), Wyse’s Corner.

Besides her parents, Jeanette was predeceased by her husband, Dalton Dorey; siblings, Ruth (Lawrence) Conrad, Dougie (Anne) Selig, Edith (Maurice) Tanner, John Selig, James Selig, Harriette (Billy) Farmer and Wayne (Diane) Selig.

Jeanette is survived by her siblings Audrey (John) Joudrey, Chummy (Sandra) Selig, Arnie (Joyce) Selig, Debby (John) Beck, Charlotte Selig, Kitty (Allen) Lake, and Janice (Cedric) Ernst; step-son, David (Anne) Woods, of Miramichi, NB; her grandchildren, Jesse George (Chantel Morash), Kolbi Daniels, Konnor Daniels; step-grandchildren, Lesleigh Goodfellow and Lyndsey Woods; her great-grandson, Jaden George; and her step-great grandchildren, Lachlan Goodfellow, Ailis Goodfellow, Brighid Goodfellow, Jazmin McLean and Isla Woods.

Jeanette will always be remembered for her loving home at the lake, entertaining many friends and family with her favourite past times of potlucks and music in the summertime. When she wasn’t at the lake, she loved going to Cape Breton hunting and travelling down south with her daughter and her sisters. But most of all, she absolutely loved and adored her grandchildren.

Jeanette will always be remembered by her many loving and funny stories she told about her childhood. She captivated many of her grandchildren and adults with her stories and her imagination, she will always be remembered to be the best storyteller! Once you heard one, you always wanted her to tell another one! There are no words to express how much she was loved and how much she will be missed. Jeanette was the heart of the family not only to her children, but to her sisters, and her nieces and nephews.

Special Thank-You to Dr. Pugh and all the wonderful staff at Rosedale Nursing Home for the care and love you have given to Jeanette over the past year. Especially to Deanna Hunt who was a true blessing and friend who provided Jeanette with unconditional love and kindness.

Jeanette’s life will be celebrated in the summer of 2025, with a Family and Friends gathering at the lake with a potluck, music and a small graveside service on the same day. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, New Germany.
