Obituary of David Gordon Custance
David Gordon Custance, age 72, of Oakhill, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 9, 2024, in Bridgewater, N.S.
Born on September 26, 1952, in Truro to Beulah and Gordon Custance, David was a dedicated and hardworking individual. He began his career as a carpenter, transitioned to a mechanic, and later became a linesman with the Town of Mahone Bay. David was also a devoted firefighter, serving 21 years with the Oakhill Fire Department, where he retired as a Captain.
An avid lover of Harley Davidson bikes, David enjoyed fishing and hunting, embracing the outdoors with passion and enthusiasm. He was known for his generous spirit and his willingness to help anyone when needing a hand.
David is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Mary-Anne, and his five sons: Stephen (Laura), Brian, Mike (Mona), Joey (Vangie), and David (Amanda). He will be deeply missed by his five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Gail.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice in his honor. A celebration of David's life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to share memories and honor his legacy.
