Obituary of David Harris Ramey

RAMEY, David Harris – Age 78, of Pinehurst, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Bridgewater, David was the son of the late Harris and Phyllis (Drew) Raimey.

David passions were outdoor sports, hunting and fishing and he was always telling stories about the big one; he never shared where his favourite fishing spot was.

He was a “people person”, always smiling and ready for a big talk. He left a lasting impression on those that stopped and listened. He loved to reminisce about the good old days, and all the people he met and the places he visited.

At an early age, he left home and ventured to Ontario to find work. He picked tobacco, apples and worked at Christmas trees for different factories. David was a hard worker and never missed a day of work.

David was an exceptionally strong family man who loved is wife Barbara, his children and especially his grandchildren, whom he loved immensely, and it was evident in the love that they had for him in return.

He moved back to Nova Scotia and started work with Robert Hirtle Construction and then worked at helping to build the new Michelin Tire Plant in Bridgewater. Once the construction was completed and the plant opened, he moved inside and began working on the production line, where he continued to work for 31 years, retiring 20 years ago, in 2005.

Surviving is David’s loving wife of 50 years, Barbara Ann (McKean); daughter, Lori (Randy) Dedrick, Conquerall Mills; sons, Corey (Mallory) Ramey, East Ship Harbour, and Dave (Samatha), Toronto, ON.; sisters, Diane (Bruce) Churchill, New Germany, and Linda MacKay, Pinehurst; grandchildren, Sophia, Declan, Gage, and Lane; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his sister, Sharon in infancy; brother, Henry; and brother-in-law, Allison “Allie” MacKay.

There will be no service by request. A private family interment will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
