Obituary of Ronald Stuart Johnstone
JOHNSTONE, Ronald Stuart – Age 70, of Bridgewater. It is with heavy heart we say goodbye to a wonderful husband, father, uncle and friend. He was son to the late, Joseph and Camela (Rice) Johnstone.
Ron is survived by his wife of 46 years, Michelle (Purdy); his son, Kyle and daughter-in-law, Margaret; brothers, Richard (Nancy), Edmonton, Alberta, and Ken (Joanne), Medicine Hat, Alberta; sister, Pam (Paul), Deep Brook; sister-in-law, Barb, Deep Brook; and brother-in-law, Leland Purdy also of Deep Brook, NS; and so many great friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his oldest brother, Robert “Bob”; sister, Sandra, and her husband, Bob Cook; and sister-in-law, Denice Purdy. He was such a great uncle to his many nephews and nieces, and also the next generations of nephews and nieces whom he thought so highly of.
As many of you know he had a very wicked sense of humour and his wit couldn't be compared as his relatives and friends all knew. Ron loved nothing more than to tease and nickname everyone. Ron worked at Michelin Tire, in Bridgewater, from 1973 to 2011 when he retired to enjoy his summers at the cottage at Sandy Bottom Lake, that he had built next to his two brothers. During the fall to spring months, you may have passed him on the road driving vehicles for KIA, and then later for O’Regan’s with a great group of guys. His love of country music, wood working, and helping others were just a couple of his past times.
Cremation has taken place and no service by request. Private family interment will be held in Brookside Cemetery at a later date. If you would like to make a donation in his memory, please support the MS Society of Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, S.H.A.I.D. Tree Animal Shelter which helps so many animals, or any charity of your choice. The family wants to thank everyone for their support at this time, “We appreciate everything you have done for us to offer comfort.” Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
