Obituary of Elaine Frances Mosher

We are beyond heartbroken to announce the passing of Elaine Frances Mosher “Lainie”, on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at the age of 60.

Born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia on November 26, 1964, Elaine was a daughter of Muriel (Corkum) Mosher, Dublin Shore and the late Dawson Mosher.

Elaine is survived by her mom, Muriel; sisters, Joan (Dave) Collier, Wanda (Curt) Haughn and brother, Wayne Mosher; she also leaves behind several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elaine lived a life filled with tight-knit family ties and friends. She was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt even when she had a lot going on in her own life. Elaine was kind, vibrant and empathetic.  She had the natural ability to bring” light” into the lives around her. Her big laugh and warm hugs will be missed by all who knew her.

Elaine shared a deep love for the ocean and our family’s fishing tradition. In her youth, Elaine could be seen at the helm, steering the boat or banding lobster for her dad.  No job was off limits as a fisherman’s daughter.

Over the years, Elaine worked as a school bus driver and custodian at Rissers Beach culminating in a career with the Department of Natural Resources working in many locations around the province. Her diverse career path showed her commitment to the people and places she supported.

Elaine enjoyed walking on the beach, dog sitting and driving carefree on her Harley. She had a green thumb and would often be found tending her tomato patch. She liked cooking and baking and getting together for our family picnics on Mosher Island.

Elaine’s legacy will live on through the beautiful memories she created and the love she gave to all of us.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home in Bridgewater. A private burial service will be held at a later date.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the LaHave Fire Hall where we will honour Elaine.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please donate to Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland Nova Scotia, SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or Harbour House - Bridgewater.

Grief is the last act of love we can give to those we loved. Where there is deep grief, there was great love.
