Obituary of Artie Buckler

John Arthur Andrewes "Artie" Buckler Of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully at home January 17, 2002. Born in Bridgetown, May 10, 1935, he was the only son of the late John A. and L. Gertrude (Andrewes) Buckler. Endowed with a kind and compassionate spirit, he was fifty seven years insulin dependant diabetic. An accountant by profession, he was employed by Acadia Construction and Nauss Bros. He was an active member, a charter Knight of Father Adrian Butts council #6417, Bridgewater. He had been a member of the Bridgewater Tennis and Curling Clubs, and 367 BPO Elk’s Lodge, and CNIB. His passion for books was enjoyed by later years through talking books. He is survived by his wife, Katherine (Muise) “Kay”; a son, John Paul Leo of Banff, Alberta; a daughter, Julie Elizabeth of Victoria, British Columbia; a sister Beth (Mrs. Glen Conrad) of Lower Branch; four nephews, Ken Joudrey, Bedford; Paul Joudrey, Dartmouth; Michael and Joey Muise, of Ottawa; three nieces Jane Joudrey, Waverly; Ellen Martell, Elmsdale; Michele Peverill, Dartmouth. He was predeceased by elder sister Joan (Mrs. Clayton Joudrey), Dartmouth. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm with prayers being offered at 8pm, all in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral mass will be held 10:30 Monday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater, Father Michael Walsh officiating with cremation following the mass. Burial will take place in Liverpool at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association through the funeral home or at www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
