Dear Linda, Jo-Anne & Family,
It is hard to describe Melba. She had more energy to devote to her passions than one can believe. Melba was a "people" person who loved being surrounded by her many friends and political activists. One had to admire her total optimism about "winning". Her home was always open to meetings and gatherings. She met so many prime ministers and premiers, it is hard to remember them all. Her life was full in so many ways. She was generous beyond what was expected in all her missions.
Melba will be missed by her friends. A light has gone out here; but surely shining above!
My condolences to Linda, Jo-Anne and family.
The Hon. Marie P Dechman.

Melba was a sweet dear friend. Always, always there for me whether going to an AGM, Tory meeting, dancing, playing cards or baking lemon pies or picking her delicious strawberry rhubarb from her garden, she would always say "give me a minute", "I’m going to" or "I can help too." Time to rest my friend but I and many more will miss you dearly.

We will remember Melba as a strong supporter of the PC Party of NS and the federal Conservative party as well. Melba could always be depended on to host a meeting, complete with sandwiches, dessert, coffee and tea. She could sell out an event in record time and did so whenever called on. Her generosity and kindness was offered to members and volunteers in campaign after campaign. Melba was well liked and respected. Our memories of her will live on. Rest in peace Melba. Our condolences to Melba's family.

I was so sorry to hear of Melba's passing. She and Glenn were friends of my DeLong grandparents as well as my parents, and I vividly remember Glenn picking me up hitchhiking from the airport many, many years ago and taking me right to the Ag College campus where I was a student. I like to think that Melba, and Glenn are together with Leola and Charlie and my folks, chatting away together in the heavens.

I was saddened to read of your Mother’s passing. We met many times over the years through her involvement in the PC Party of Nova Scotia. Her presence and dedication to the Party was memorable and made a difference. I always loved to see her at gatherings in her “blue” Nova Scotia tartan. One of my fondest memories is visiting her home and enjoying her Blue Shrine and how could we forget her sandwiches and sweets. I am away and unable to attend her funeral but will be thinking of you all.

Melba was a great lady and a wonderful supporter of the PC Party. She was a tremendous support to me as a candidate and MP during my time in Ottawa. She will be missed by all who had the privledge of knowing her, including my wife Judy and I. Unfortunately, we will be unable to attend the funeral owing to a long-awaited medical appointment I have that day. Our thoughts are with Melba's family on the loss of this remarkable, wonderful woman. Kindest regards,

Gloria.Marshall Past-President PC Women's Association. I first met Melba at a P C convention at the Lord Nelson in Haliax. The energy this lady had for all things political was amazing. We shared lots of laughs and hi-jinks over the years. Melba could raise more money for the cause than anyone I know. Little did I know then that she would become part of my family through the marriage of her granddaughter Melissa to my son Mark. My deepest sympathy to her son Karl (Ann) Stevens and family in the loss of this wonderful mother and grandmother. Melba will be missed by so many friends she acquired in her lifetime. To her family, I offer my deepest sympathy.
