Leigh Towler

Obituary of Leigh Edward Towler

TOWLER, Leigh Edward – Age 72, Kingsburg, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg with his partner, John by his side. Born April 3, 1951, in Vancouver, he was a son of the late Doreen Maude Towler.

Leigh retired after a 35-year career as a business analyst for Telus, where he made many friends and colleagues from across the country. Leigh loved music and he demonstrated this with his involvement with the Squares Across the Borders International Square-Dancing Group, Vancouver, he was also an original member of the Halifax Gay Men’s Chorus where he continued to sing until his health declined. Leigh gave many volunteer hours fundraising for AIDS – Vancouver and particularly with the “The Cowbelles”, which raised many funds for the organization. Leigh also enjoyed fitness, where he was an instructor for 25 years with Fitness World in North Vancouver as an aerobics and spin instructor; as well as at Telus, after he and John relocated to their new home on the east coast, Leigh continued to teach spin fitness in his home studio, for his faithful and dedicated friends. Leigh also enjoyed camping, where he and John were able to meet and reconnect with friends from many places at the Washington State Triangle Recreational Campground in Index, from February to September for many years. Leigh will be missed by all those who were fortunate to know him; he had a quirky sense of humour, there's an understatement and a tremendous gift of creating friendships.

Leigh will be forever remembered by his life partner of 30 years, John Ferguson, the love of his life.

According to Leigh’s personal wishes, there will be no formal service held. A celebration of his life will be at a later date. If you wish to make a donation in Leigh’s memory, please consider the Alzheimer Society or an AIDS organization, near you.
